Tia Ross is known to be a consummate professional, whether she's producing another acclaimed conference, orchestrating an organization's direction, strategizing the most effective way for her clients to present their messages online and in print, or dedicating her energy to a local charity or community project.
As a conference and convention planner, Tia has planned, produced, and directed four markedly successful conferences for writers of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and drama, and consulted on seven. She recently produced the fourth Black Writers Reunion & Conference in Tampa in June 2008, expanding its renowned program to incorporate professional and technical writing careers and businesses, and is now planning her fifth, which will be held in Las Vegas.
A 2008 Influential Black Women in Business Award nominee for being a trailblazing source of inspiration in the literary arts, Tia received the Platinum Page Award for being most instrumental in affecting the lives and careers of, as well as providing resources and opportunities for, writers and literary entrepreneurs in the African American community. She is the editor of the NAACP Image Award-winning "More Than Entertainers: An Inspirational Black Career Guide," by Charles B. Schooler, a youth/teen guide which profiles career paths, options, and issues relevant to African Americans entering the job market or seeking to expand their careers. From 1999 to 2003, she was recognized each year for her award-winning web development work with the Black Writers Alliance website by Writer's Digest Magazine, BET.com, and others, twice winning the popular Writer's Digest Best 101 Sites Award.
Tia has served as the executive director of three nonprofit associations, including the Black Writers Alliance, Inc. (1998-2003), the first professional association to organize online for Black writers; Houston African-American Writers' Society (1997-1998); and National Black Writers Foundation founded in 2007 to promote the professional growth and development of African-American writers and editors through educational programs, scholarships, and resources and the cultural legacy of African-American literature. She has also served as Secretary of the Board of Directors of the Houston Council of Writers (1999-2000); Secretary of the Convention & Tourism Committee of the Dallas Black Chamber of Commerce (2001-2002); and Coordinator of the African-American Read-In Writer's Walk (2002-2003) in addition to chairing and serving on countless other advisory boards and committees.
As an editor and information architect, Tia has helped people communicate in print and online with clarity and style for more than 20 years through novels, nonfiction books, technical manuals, conference materials, business documents, résumés, websites, and numerous other publications through Pentouch Communications (2001-2007) and Ross Precision. Her skill as a document maestro is most lauded in law where she's built a stellar reputation for her technical expertise in legal office technology, document corruption recovery, conversions, and forensics.
In her spare time she enjoys writing (journaling, creative writing, and calligraphy), reading, swimming, and watching sci-fi, comedy, and action/adventure movies.
